Going the extra mile: our charity endurance challenge

On October 12, our teams united to push our limits in a 12-hour endurance challenge, raising funds for Hampshire Hospitals Charity and Newbury Cancer Care.

Starting bright and early at 7am and continuing until 7pm, our goal was to collectively cover 1,130 miles – the combined distance between our offices in Newbury, Dublin and Malmö. From a marathon walk along the River Kennet and Avon Canal to cycling routes around Leeds and Dublin, plus various gym activities on rowers, bikes and ski machines kindly donated by Concept2, everyone put in an incredible effort.

We’re thrilled to announce that we not only met but exceeded our fundraising targets. Together, we covered a total of 1,333 miles and raised £3,454. The dedication and commitment shown by our team members, whether during marathon walks, cycle routes, or gym sessions, was great to see!

This event not only brought our teams together but also allowed us to make a meaningful contribution to two wonderful organisations:

Hampshire Hospitals Charity supports NHS staff, patients and volunteers at Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover hospitals. The charity’s initiatives include:

  • Providing support for families in need
  • Creating comfortable and welcoming spaces for everyone
  • Assisting hospital staff to ensure they have a safe and welcoming work environment

Newbury Cancer Care supports local people facing cancer in West Berkshire. Their work includes practical help & support for patients and families, such as:

  • Transporting patients to and from hospital appointments
  • Financial assistance
  • Counselling
  • Funding the “Rainbow Rooms” at the West Berkshire Community Hospital (WBCH). Four private rooms with adjoining family rooms so loved ones can be close by during end-of-life care
  • Funding the Rosemary Centre at WBCH
  • Support groups

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, donated and supported us throughout the challenge, which takes the amount we have raised for good causes over the past three years to more than £25,000.

We’re proud to have taken part in this challenge, knowing that our efforts will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those supported by Hampshire Hospitals Charity and Newbury Cancer Care.
